Criticising Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed, Member of Parliament Barrister Rumeen Farhana has said that if the home minister showed the same interest and activity in his own ministry as he does in other ministries, the people of the country would have benefited more.

She made the remarks while speaking to journalists after inspecting the progress of a road construction project in Ghagarjuri village, Chunta union, Sarail upazila, Brahmanbaria, on Friday afternoon, June 26.

Farhana said the country's current law and order situation is very fragile. She said the government needs to pay the utmost attention to the economy and law and order.

She added that the current law and order situation is worse than it has ever been in the recent past. "The government has two ministers who bear half the responsibility — finance and home. But if the home minister showed the same interest and activity in his own ministry as he does in other ministries, the people of the country would have benefited," she said.

Questioning the new budget, Farhana said there are serious questions about how implementable the budget is. If there is no visible progress in the economy and law and order, the situation could become difficult for the government.

Regarding allegations of a "case business," she said there are accusations against local BNP leaders and activists in various areas. The government and the home minister should look into the matter.

She added, "Whatever you do today, one day you will have to face accountability for it."

Local leaders and supporters accompanied Farhana during the road inspection.
