Court denies bail for former minister Latif Siddique
A Dhaka court has rejected the bail plea of expelled Awami League leader and former minister Abdul Latif Siddique in a case filed under the Anti-Terrorism Act.
On Sunday, Judge Farzana Yasmin of Dhaka’s Fifth Additional Metropolitan Sessions Judge Court issued the order after hearing both sides.
Defence lawyer Tahmina Taherin Mun sought bail, but state counsel opposed the plea. Public prosecutor Rafiqul Islam Khan confirmed the decision to the media.
Earlier, on 29 August, Latif Siddique and 15 others were sent to jail in connection with the same case. The accused include journalists and political activists.
