Court grants bail to speech-impaired man detained from AL rally
A Dhaka court has granted bail to Said Sheikh, a speech-impaired man who was arrested for chanting slogans during an unauthorized Awami League rally near the Golap Shah Shrine in Gulistan.
The Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate, Zakir Hossain, issued the bail order on Tuesday.
State prosecutor Muhammad Shamsuddoha Sumon confirmed the granting of bail to the accused.
On August 24, three people were arrested from the rally under the Anti-Terrorism Act. Alongside Said Sheikh, the other two accused are Raju Ahmed and Sheikh Md. Shakil.
Following the arrests, the investigation officer of the case, SI Maksudul Hasan of Paltan Model Police Station, produced the trio before the court on August 25, requesting their detention in jail. During the hearing, the officer described Said Sheikh as speech-impaired. The court subsequently sent him to jail on the same day.
