Court grants ex-state minister Zakir 3-day remand in murder case
A Dhaka court has placed former state minister for primary and mass education, Zakir Hossain, on a three-day remand in connection with the murder of electrician Shamim Hawlader.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Nazmin Akter issued the order after police sought a five-day remand today (October 25).
The case was filed by Shamim's cousin, Jakir Hossain, at Mohammadpur Police Station.
Hossain was arrested by the Detective Branch (DB) of police in Mohammadpur on October 24.
Shamim was shot on July 20 during an anti-discrimination student movement and later died at Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College and Hospital.
