Court orders seizure of 354 acres owned by Sheikh Rehana’s husband, son
A Dhaka court has ordered the seizure of 354 acres of land owned by Dr Shafique Ahmed Siddique, husband of Sheikh Rehana, and their son Radwan Mujib Siddiq Bobby.
The assets, reportedly valued approximately Tk 1.95 crore, are being frozen as part of an ongoing investigation into allegations of illegally acquired wealth.
The order was issued on Thursday (July 24) by Dhaka Metropolitan Sessions Judge Md Zakir Hossain Galib following an application submitted by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC). The court directed that the properties cannot be transferred or disposed of during the course of the investigation.
According to ACC officials, Deputy Director Md Monirul Islam filed the petition stating that Dr Shafique Siddique and Radwan Mujib are under investigation for accumulating assets beyond known sources of income. The ACC claims there is credible information that efforts are being made to transfer or conceal the properties in question, which could obstruct the investigation.
In its application, the ACC requested the court to seize the land to prevent any potential tampering with evidence or changes in ownership that could compromise the inquiry. The court granted the request after reviewing the case details.
