Cover of special issue of ‘Chilekotha’ dedicated to poet Nesar Ahmed Jamal unveiled

The cover of the special issue of the monthly literary and cultural magazine ‘Chilekotha’ dedicated to poet Nesar Ahmed Jamal has been unveiled in Sylhet. The programme on this occasion was organised at Hotel Surma in Dargah Mahalla on Saturday (August 22).

Poet and editor of ‘Chilekotha’ Mamun Sultan presided over the programme conducted by poet Jasim Helal and Wahidul Islam. At the beginning of the programme poet Dinaj Saurav recited from the Quran.

Principal Lt Col (retd) Ataur Rahman Peer was the chief guest at the programme. Poet Israk Jahan Jeli, poet Sarwar Faruqi and poet Rahnama Shabbir Chowdhury Moni spoke as special discussants. Md Makbul Ali delivered the welcome speech and poet Jasim Helal gave the inaugural speech.

Poet Senuara Aktar Chinu, poet Kaniz Amina, poet Mazharul Islam Joynal, poet Kabir Ashraf, poet Milan Kanti Das, poet Amit Mamun, poet Rayhan Ibne Amin, poet Jesir Arafat, poet Dinaj Saurav and many others took part in the open discussion.

In the discussion the speakers highlighted various aspects of the poetry and literary works of poet Nesar Ahmed Jamal. They said Nesar Ahmed Jamal has been leaving the mark of sensitivity in Bangla poetry. Life, society, people, nature and various aspects of time have been deeply reflected in his poems.

The speakers welcomed the initiative of publishing the special issue of ‘Chilekotha’ on the poet. In their view such a publication centred on the literary works of a poet can play an important role in taking his creations to the new generation of readers.

Editor of ‘Chilekotha’ poet Mamun Sultan said Nesar Ahmed Jamal is an important poet of our literary world. This special issue has been published in an effort to present his creativity and literary contribution to readers in a new way. We believe this initiative will create the path for deeper reading and discussion on his literary works.

Various poets, writers and litterateurs took part in the poetry recitation, reminiscence and discussion sessions at the programme. Later the cover of the special issue of ‘Chilekotha’ dedicated to poet Nesar Ahmed Jamal was formally unveiled.

At the end of the programme gratitude was expressed to the guests, poets, writers and literature lovers on behalf of the organisers.
