COVID-19 claims two more lives in Chattogram
Two more people died from COVID-19 in Chattogram in the past 24 hours, according to a report issued by the Civil Surgeon’s office on Monday (June 23).
The deceased were identified as Kazi Abdul Awal, 80, from Companiganj upazila in Noakhali district, and Rabeya Khatun, 95, from the Firingi Bazar area under Kotwali police station in Chattogram. They died on Saturday (June 21) at Imperial Hospital. Both were reportedly suffering from multiple age-related health conditions prior to contracting the virus.
Civil Surgeon Jahangir Alam said, “After testing positive for COVID-19, both were admitted to Imperial Hospital where they died. With these deaths, the total number of COVID-19 fatalities in Chattogram has reached six.”
Additionally, the Civil Surgeon’s office reported four new COVID-19 cases in Chattogram over the past 24 hours. Out of 120 samples tested, one case was detected at Chittagong Medical College, two at Chevron Diagnostic, and one at Evercare Hospital. With these new cases, the total number of confirmed COVID-19 infections in Chattogram has risen to 78.
