Crackdown on alleged rigging at Rajnigandha filling station
Four out of six booths at Rajnigandha filling station in Kismat Nawapara area of Jashore-Magura highway have been closed due to an alleged complaint of giving one liter less in 10 liters of diesel. The BSTI took this action on Monday (September 2) afternoon by carrying out an operation along with the leaders of the anti-discrimination student movement.
According to related sources, anti-discrimination movement students came to know about the rigging of the digital machine for selling fuel at Rajnigandha filling station. After receiving such information, BSTI officials along with the students raided the petrol pump in the afternoon. During the time, the fact of cheating with the consumers in the sale of fuel oil was found. After that BSTI officials sealed Octane, Petrol and Diesel Dispensing Unit (Digital Meter Machine) of Rajnigandha Filling Centre.
Jesina Morshed, coordinator of anti-discrimination student movement, said that they received news on Monday afternoon that the Rajnigandha filling station authorities were manipulating the oil level. After receiving the news, they went there with BSTI officials. Later they measured 10 liters of oil and found that there was one liter less.
BSTI Jashore inspector Rakib Islam said that as this is the first time that such an allegation came up against the organization, the filling station has been warned instead of fined. If such complaint is found again, disciplinary action will be taken.
