Crowd of blood donors throng at Burn Institute
While the entire nation mourns the tragic accident involving an Air Force training aircraft that crashed on the campus of Milestone School and College in Uttara, Dhaka, ordinary people have set a remarkable example of humanity.
Since the news of the accident broke, people have been pouring into the National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery to donate blood and help save the lives of the injured. In this horrific moment, countless individuals have voluntarily come forward to donate blood, becoming a shining example of standing by others in times of crisis.
On-site observations revealed that at least 50 burn victims in critical condition have been admitted to the National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery. As a large amount of blood is required to save their lives, a huge crowd has gathered at the hospital premises to donate. Although there is an adequate number of donors for positive blood types, there is a shortage of negative blood groups.
Such scenes were witnessed on Monday (July 21) during a visit to the site.
According to sources at the Burn Institute, many of the burn victims have sustained burns over more than 50% of their bodies. Their treatment urgently requires a substantial amount of blood. After hearing this news, people rushed from various parts of the capital. Long lines of blood donors have formed outside the hospital gates. Some have brought others with them to donate as well.
After a deafening noise, flames erupted within seconds — faces and ears scorched instantly
Ashraful Islam, a blood donor standing in the hospital premises, said, "I couldn't just sit at home after seeing the news. I even brought my wife with me. She’s O positive, I’m B negative — we’re both willing to donate wherever it's needed."
Meanwhile, appeals for blood are also circulating on social media. Various blood donation organizations, university students, and ordinary citizens are flocking to the Burn Institute to donate.
