At least 11 cocktail explosions occurred in different places in Dhaka throughout the day on Monday and three buses were set on fire.

Although no major casualties were reported, anxiety and panic have spread across the capital.

In this situation, law enforcement agencies have already increased their activities to maintain the security of the city's residents.

A statement issued by the Chief Adviser's Press Wing said that the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) and RAB have started joint operations and any attempt to disrupt religious harmony will be strictly suppressed. All police stations in the capital have been asked to increase patrols, surveillance and secondary prevention measures until November 13, the date of the verdict of a case filed against ousted Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina by the International Crimes Tribunal.

The DMP has banned all types of public gatherings around the International Crimes Tribunal area and has strengthened security at important government and public institutions in the capital.

Meanwhile, in the wake of the cocktail explosions in front of two churches, the government has given a message of steadfastness in preserving religious harmony and security has been strengthened at all religious places of worship including churches, temples, mosques in Dhaka.

A senior official of the Home Ministry said, “Every attempt to destabilize the country will be swiftly and firmly resisted; protecting public safety, national unity and democratic transformation is our priority.”
