A cocktail bomb was hurled into the compound of Pallabi Police Station in Dhaka from an adjacent flyover on Sunday evening, leaving a member of the Special Response Battalion (SRB) slightly injured.

The incident took place around 7:30pm on November 8.

Pallabi Police Station Officer-in-Charge Jalal Uddin confirmed the incident, saying miscreants had detonated the bomb on the premises to spread panic. No one has been arrested in connection with the incident so far.

A source in the law enforcement agencies said two people on a motorcycle hurled the bomb from the flyover beside the police station into its compound. When it exploded, a fragment struck a member of SRB-4 who was standing inside the station gate, causing minor injuries.

Earlier on Sunday night, another cocktail bomb exploded in front of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) headquarters in Malibagh. Police said no one was injured in that incident.

A series of cocktail bomb explosions were also reported at different locations on the Dhaka University campus in the evening, triggering panic among students and members of the public.

The explosions took place near the Teacher-Student Centre (TSC), the administrative building, the plaza beside the vice-chancellor's residence, the central students' union building, Madhur Canteen and the Muktir O Gantantra Toron near Nilkhet, as well as several nearby locations.

Following an explosion in the TSC area, students detained two people and handed them over to the university's proctorial team.
