CU Chhatra Dal leader show-caused over fuel price protest post

The central committee of Bangladesh Jatiotabadi Chhatra Dal has issued a show-cause notice to Sazzad Hossain Hridoy, organising secretary of its Chittagong University unit, after he posted on Facebook protesting the latest fuel price hike.

The notice, signed by the organisation’s office secretary Md Jahangir Alam on Monday (September 21), asked Hridoy to appear at the central office within 48 hours and submit a written explanation in the presence of the organisation’s president and general secretary.

The notice said Hridoy, as a responsible office-bearer of the CU unit, had allegedly violated organisational discipline and asked him to explain why permanent disciplinary action should not be taken against him.

In his Facebook post, Hridoy wrote that most of the BNP programmes he had participated in since entering student politics had been protests against increases in fuel, gas and electricity prices. He added that he was protesting the latest fuel price hike.

Hridoy said he remained loyal to the organisation and would submit his explanation within the stipulated time.
