Cultural Adviser mourns death of eminent folk singer Farida Parveen
Cultural Adviser Mostofa Sarwar Farooki has expressed profound grief over the death of renowned artist Farida Parveen, who passed away at 10:15pm on Saturday while undergoing treatment. She was 71.
In an official condolence message, Farooki stated that Farida Parveen's death marks an irreparable loss to the country's music scene. He noted her pivotal role in preserving and promoting Bengali music, particularly Lalon Sangeet.
“Farida Parveen not only brought Lalon’s philosophy to life through her voice but also elevated the cultural understanding of his songs across generations,” Farooki said.
He further added that her contributions to Bangladeshi music will be remembered with deep respect.
Farooki offered prayers for the departed soul and extended condolences to her family.
