Curbing drug abuse our top priority: LGRD Minister

Priority is being given to controlling drugs among various issues, Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives Minister Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has said.

He made the remarks in response to a question from journalists after a views-exchange meeting with heads of government departments in Thakurgaon district on Saturday afternoon.

Mirza Fakhrul said, "We should not waste time but rather focus on the future. We should focus on how quickly we can move forward, how to transform the country into a prosperous economy, and how to strengthen democratic institutions. These are the matters we should pay attention to."

He said, "Everyone should do their respective jobs. The Anti-Corruption Commission is there to look after those who engage in corruption. We have never tolerated corruption and will not."

He further said, "Food security will be ensured. Programmes for women will be launched. The Prime Minister's biggest programme, the Family Card, will be implemented quickly."

District Administrator Ishrat Fazana presided over the views-exchange meeting, which was also attended by MP from Thakurgaon-3 constituency Jahidur Rahman, District BNP President Mirza Foysal Amin, General Secretary Paigam Ali and heads of all district departments.
