Authorities in Gopalganj have eased the current curfew for 14 hours on Saturday, permitting public movement from 6:00am to 8:00pm.

Deputy Commissioner and District Magistrate Mohammad Kamruzzaman announced the decision late on Friday night.

The curfew was enforced following violent clashes that erupted on Wednesday during a rally organized by the National Citizens Party (NCP).

Activists of the Awami League and its banned student wing, Chhatra League, are reportedly responsible for the attacks, which have resulted in at least five deaths.

Officials said the temporary relaxation aims to ease public suffering while maintaining security.

Law enforcement personnel will continue to be deployed, and authorities will assess the situation before deciding on any further actions, officials say.
