Cylinder explosion in Rajshahi injures 5 during balloon gas filling

Five people were injured on Friday morning in Godagari, Rajshahi, after a gas cylinder exploded while filling balloons. The incident occurred around 11:30 am in Kalikapur village.

The injured were immediately taken to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital (RAMEC) for treatment.

The victims have been identified as Rakibul Islam, 65 and Jolsori, 35 from Dewanpara village, Godagari; Hamim Ali, 17 from Chakpara village, Shibganj Upazila, Chapainawabganj; Ekramul Haque, 54 from Sirajpur village, Niamatpur Upazila, Naogaon; and Roni Ahmed, 22.

Dr. Shankar K. Roy, spokesperson and emergency department in-charge at RAMEC, confirmed that all five have been admitted to the burn unit’s Ward No. 29. “Various parts of their bodies have sustained burns. They are currently undergoing treatment, but their condition remains uncertain,” he said.
