Health and Family Welfare Minister Sardar Md Sakhawat Husain Bokul has said the ministry will be made completely free of corruption and syndicates. People will no longer have to seek out doctors; instead, doctors will reach out to them, and medical services will be delivered to their doorsteps.

He made the remarks while speaking to journalists on Friday afternoon, February 20, after exchanging greetings with officials and party leaders at his residence in Hafizpur village of Monohardi upazila.

The minister said the government is working to make medical services accessible and universal. He expressed hope that the targets announced in the health sector would be achieved under the leadership of Prime Minister Tareq Rahman.

He said the government has responsibilities not only to those who voted for it but also to those who did not. Forgetting vengeance and hostility, they will work to build a prosperous Bangladesh based on the spirit of the Liberation War.

Sakhawat Hossain Bokul said there are plans to establish a medical college in Narsingdi. Initiatives will also be taken to quickly operationalise healthcare institutions in the district that are not yet fully functional, including the 250-bed hospital. He also expressed interest in setting up two ICU units in Narsingdi.

Narsingdi Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Anwar Hossain, Additional Superintendent of Police Administration Md Kalimullah, along with district and upazila officials and BNP leaders and activists, were present at the time.

Earlier in the morning, the minister was welcomed with flowers by officials and party leaders upon his arrival at his residence.
