Press Release

Daraz Bangladesh has said it has removed a product listed as “CBD oil” from its online marketplace after a chemist was arrested over allegations that the product contained the banned psychoactive substance THC.

In a statement, the e-commerce platform said product safety, compliance with Bangladesh’s laws and customer trust remained among its top priorities.

Daraz said it maintains strict controls to prevent products that violate its policies or applicable laws from being listed on the platform.

The company said it immediately removed the product after receiving an oral complaint from the Department of Narcotics Control (DNC) and took disciplinary action against the seller in line with its policies.

Daraz also said it had intensified monitoring and verification efforts to identify and remove any similar products from the platform.

The company urged customers and users to report any suspicious or objectionable products directly to Daraz, saying every complaint is reviewed by the relevant team and followed by appropriate action.

Daraz Bangladesh said it remained committed to providing a safe and trusted shopping environment and would continue working with the relevant authorities to ensure product quality and legal compliance.
