DC takes responsibility for 2 children rescued in Chattogram

Chattogram Deputy Commissioner Md. Zahidul Islam Miah has taken all responsibility for the two sick children rescued from the side of the road in the bitter cold in Anwara Upazila.

On Tuesday (December 30), he officially took responsibility for the treatment, safety and future rehabilitation of the children.

Among the rescued children, the name of the four-year-old girl is Ayesha and the name of the two-year-old boy is Morshed. The family of the two children is a resident of the Moulvi Dokan area of ​​Satkania Upazila. The parents are Jhinuk Akhtar and Khorshed Alam.

When the news of the children's plight came to the attention of social media, the Deputy Commissioner immediately ordered Upazila Nirbahi Officer Tahmina Akhter to take necessary measures. After primary treatment, the two children were brought to the Deputy Commissioner's office. Morshed, who was especially ill, was quickly admitted to the hospital and treatment was ensured.

The Deputy Commissioner also provided medical expenses and other necessary assistance and instructed the officials concerned to ensure the treatment and care of the children. In addition, the Department of Social Services was instructed to take necessary measures for the future safety and rehabilitation of the children.

In recognition of the humanitarian initiative for the rescued children, CNG driver Mohim Uddin was awarded a cash prize of Tk10,000. Mohim Uddin said, "I did not rescue the two children with the hope of a reward. I rescued them for humanitarian reasons. DC Sir's encouragement inspired me even more."

Local voluntary organization Swapna Jatri Foundation and locals praised the humanitarian step of the Deputy Commissioner. Anwara UNO Tahmina Akhter said that child Morshed has been admitted to the General Hospital and once he recovers, arrangements will be made to send him to a 'Safe Home' through the Social Services Office.

Deputy Commissioner Md. Zahidul Islam Miah said, "The two children will be raised in a safe and secure environment and all necessary support for their future will be ensured. Love for another's child is true humanity."
