DCs instructed to conduct mobile courts to prevent artificial fuel crisis
The Cabinet Division has directed all Deputy Commissioners across the country to operate mobile courts to maintain stability in the fuel oil market and ensure uninterrupted supply. A letter to this effect was sent to all DCs on Monday, March 9.
The Cabinet Division's letter stated that following a request from the Energy and Mineral Resources Division, mobile courts are to be deployed to prevent illegal hoarding of fuel oil, sales above government-fixed prices, open market sales, and smuggling, in order to maintain order in the fuel market and prevent an artificial crisis.
The letter instructed Deputy Commissioners to strengthen necessary legal actions and monitoring efforts in the current situation. This administrative directive comes after assurances from both the Commerce Minister and Energy Minister that there is no shortage of fuel oil in the country, aiming to ensure field-level oversight.
