The deadline for online applications for various social safety allowances and education stipends under Bangladesh’s 2026-27 fiscal year programme has been extended to August 31, the Department of Social Services said.

The extension was announced in a notice issued by the department to facilitate applicants who were unable to complete their applications within the original deadline.

Applications can be submitted for old-age allowances, allowances for widows and women deserted by their husbands, disability allowances and education stipends. The programme also covers allowances and education stipends for transgender people, ethnic communities known as Bedes, disadvantaged groups and tea workers.

The original application window ran from August 1 to 15. The deadline was extended after many applicants reportedly faced difficulties due to software glitches, internet disruptions and power outages.

Applicants can submit their forms through the Department of Social Services’ online portal at dss.bhata.gov.bd/online-application. All other eligibility requirements and application instructions remain unchanged.
