Death anniversary of Sher-e-Bangla today

Today is the 63rd death anniversary of Abul Kashem Fazlul Huq, popularly known as Sher-e-Bangla or Huq Saheb.

Born on October 26, 1873, in Saturia, a village in Barishal, Huq Saheb was an eminent public leader who played a significant role in the political landscape of the Indian subcontinent.

He held several prestigious political positions throughout his career, including the mayor of kolkata in 1935, the chief minister of undivided Bengal from 1937 to 1943, chief minister of East Bengal in 1954, home minister of Pakistan in 1955, and the governor of East Pakistan from 1956 to 1958.

He passed away in 1962, leaving behind a lasting legacy in South Asian politics.

To mark this solemn occasion, various political parties, socio-cultural organisations, and professional bodies have organised a range of events and programmes to pay tribute to the life and contributions of Sher-e-Bangla AK Fazlul Huq.
