Decomposed body of intern doctor found in Aziz Super Market flat

Police recovered the decomposed body of Fara Ferdous, 27, an intern doctor, from a flat in the residential building of Aziz Super Market in Shahbag, capital, on Friday, June 26.

Family members discovered the body after being unable to contact her for several days. They went to her flat and found the body, then informed Shahbag Police Station.

Fara Ferdous was a resident of Paigram village in Fultala upazila, Khulna. She had been living alone in a flat on the 14th floor of Aziz Super Market in Shahbag since 2022.

According to family sources, she had been out of contact with her family since June 23. After repeated phone calls went unanswered, relatives went to her flat on Friday afternoon and found the body.

Shahbag Police Station Sub-Inspector Ekramul Haque prepared the inquest report. The body was sent to the forensic department of Dhaka Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy.

Police said the exact cause of death is not yet known and will be confirmed after the autopsy report. The matter is under investigation.

Fara Ferdous completed her MBBS from Sir Salimullah Medical College and was selected in the 39th BCS. She was currently studying for her MS degree at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University.

Her elder sister, Nazula Ferdous, also a doctor, lived in another flat in the same building. The sisters last spoke on Tuesday, after which contact with Fara was lost.
