A Delhi court on Saturday (April 4) extended the remand of Faisal Karim Masud, alias Rahul, and Alamgir Hossain, the two main accused in the murder of Inqilab Mancha convener Sharif Osman Hadi, by nine days.

The accused appeared before the Special NIA Court at Patiala House, where Judge Prashant Sharma approved the extension following a request from the prosecution.

Special Public Prosecutors Rahul Tyagi and Anil Rohilla argued that further interrogation was necessary for the ongoing investigation.

Faisal and Alamgir were arrested on March 8 by West Bengal Police’s Special Task Force from the Bongaon area of North 24 Parganas near the Bangladesh border.

Initially charged under the Foreigners Act in Bidhannagar Court, the case was later taken over by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, and the accused were brought to Delhi on transit remand.

The court had earlier granted an 11-day remand on March 24, which expired before the latest extension.

Hadi was shot by assailants on a motorcycle in Dhaka's Paltan, on December 12, 2025. He succumbed to his injuries on December 18 in Singapore.
