India on Tuesday summoned Bangladesh High Commissioner Riaz Hamidullah. This development came hours after the Bangladesh Ministry of Foreign Affairs summoned his Indian counterpart Pranay Verma to express Dhaka’s ‘grave concern’ over a series of incidents in India targeting Bangladeshi diplomatic missions. This is the second time the envoys to India and Bangladesh were summoned amid tense ties between the two countries following violent anti-India protests in several parts of Bangladesh. Meanwhile, India deployed 15,000 security forces in front of the Bangladesh High Commission in New Delhi.

নয়াদিল্লিতে ভারতের পররাষ্ট্র মন্ত্রণালয় বাংলাদেশ হাইকমিশনার রিয়াজ হামিদুল্লাহকে আবার তলব করেছে। ঢাকায় ভারতের হাইকমিশনার প্রণয় ভার্মাকে তলব করার কয়েকঘন্টার মাথায় এই পদক্ষেপ নেওয়া হলো। ঢাকায় নিযুক্ত ভারতের হাইকমিশনার প্রণয় ভার্মাকে আজ মঙ্গলবার সকাল ১০টায় বাংলাদেশের পররাষ্ট্র মন্ত্রণালয়ে তলব করা হয়। কূটনৈতিক সূত্র এ তথ্য নিশ্চিত করেছে। সূত্র বলেছে, নয়াদিল্লি, কলকাতাসহ ভারতের বিভিন্ন স্থানে থাকা বাংলাদেশ মিশন নিয়ে উদ্ভূত নিরাপত্তা পরিস্থিতির পরিপ্রেক্ষিতে প্রণয় ভার্মাকে তলব করা হয়। বাংলাদেশের বেশ কয়েকটি স্থানে ভারত-বিরোধী সহিংস বিক্ষোভের পর দুই দেশের মধ্যে উত্তেজনাপূর্ণ সম্পর্কের মধ্যে দ্বিতীয়বারের মতো ভারত ও বাংলাদেশের রাষ্ট্রদূতদের তলব করা হলো। এদিকে, ভারত নয়াদিল্লিতে বাংলাদেশ হাইকমিশনের সামনে ১৫,০০০ নিরাপত্তা বাহিনী মোতায়েন করেছে।
