Dengue: 1 dies, 386 infections reported in 24 hours

One more person has died, and 386 new dengue cases have been reported across the country in the last 24 hours, according to a press release issued by the Health Emergency Operation Center and Control Room of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) on Tuesday.

The deceased was identified as a resident of Dhaka North City Corporation, bringing the total number of dengue-related deaths this year to 43.

The DGHS report shows a wide geographic spread of the new infections. Among the 386 patients hospitalized over the past day, the highest number—163—were reported from areas under Barisal division (outside the City Corporation). Other cases include 73 from Dhaka division (outside the City Corporation), 30 from Dhaka North City Corporation, 38 from Dhaka South City Corporation, 19 from Chattohram division (outside the City Corporation), 16 from Khulna division (outside the City Corporation), eight from Mymensingh division, and 39 from Rajshahi division.

During the same period, 322 dengue patients were discharged from hospitals, raising the total number of recoveries this year to 9,409.

From January 1 to July 1, 2025, a total of 10,682 people have been infected with the mosquito-borne disease, DGHS data reveals. Of them, 59.1% are male and 40.9% female.

A total of 43 people died of dengue during this period, of which the last deceased was a resident of Dhaka North City Corporation, according to a DGHS data.
