Dengue claims 2 more lives, 392 hospitalised in 24 hrs

The number of dengue fever cases transmitted by the Aedes mosquito is increasing across the country. In the last 24 hours (from 8.00am Sunday to 8.00am Monday), two more people have died due to dengue, and 392 new patients have been admitted to hospitals after infection.

The information was shared on Monday (June 23) through a press statement from the Health Emergency Operation Center and Control Room of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

According to the release, 392 people were admitted to various government and private hospitals across the country due to dengue in the last 24 hours. Among them, 86 were admitted to hospitals in Dhaka, and 306 were admitted outside Dhaka.

Deaths occurred in Dhaka City Corporation and the Barishal division during this time. Barishal also leads in the number of new dengue cases, with 126 new infections reported there in the past 24 hours.

According to the DGHS data, from January 1 to June 23 this year, a total of 8,150 people have been infected with dengue in the country. During this period, 34 people have died. Among the deceased, 50% were male and 50% female.

Of the infected, 59% are male and 41% female.

The health department has urged everyone to stay alert and keep breeding grounds of Aedes mosquitoes clean to control the dengue situation.
