Dengue claims 2 more lives, 445 new affected
Bangladesh has reported two more deaths from dengue in the past 24 hours, bringing the total fatalities for the year to 127, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
During the same period, 445 new cases were admitted to hospitals nationwide.
Of the recent deaths, one patient was from Dhaka South City Corporation and the other from Barishal division. They were receiving treatment at Dhaka Medical College Hospital and Barguna General Hospital, respectively.
DGHS data show that 5 people have died and 1,470 have been infected with dengue in the first three days of September. So far this year, 32,946 people have contracted the disease, with men accounting for 70 deaths and women 57.
Hospital admissions in the last 24 hours included 146 patients in Dhaka’s two city corporation areas and 299 in other regions. Meanwhile, 417 patients were discharged.
The highest number of dengue deaths this year was recorded in July, with 41 fatalities, followed by 39 in August.
