Dengue claims 2 more lives in last 24 hrs
Dengue fever has claimed two more lives in the country, one in Dhaka and another in Chattogram, in the 24 hours leading up to Thursday (July 31), according to a report from the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
During this period, 278 new dengue patients were admitted to hospitals across the country. Of them, 63 were hospitalized in Dhaka, while 215 were admitted outside the capital.
The latest deaths bring the total dengue-related fatalities this year to 83. Among the deceased, 56.6% were male and 43.4% female.
Since January 1, a total of 20,980 people have been infected with the mosquito-borne virus nationwide, with men accounting for 58.8% of cases and women 41.2%.
