Dengue claims 4 more lives

In the past 24 hours, 781 patients were admitted to hospitals across the country with dengue, while four more deaths were reported during this period. So far this year, 224 people have died from dengue, with 52,885 hospital admissions recorded.

The Health Emergency Operations Centre and Control Room of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) released the figures on Thursday, October 9.

According to DGHS, in October alone 5,543 patients have been admitted with dengue, of whom 26 have died. Currently, 2,452 dengue patients are undergoing treatment in government and private hospitals nationwide, including 827 in Dhaka and 1,625 in other divisions.

DGHS data further show that hospital admissions stood at 1,161 in January, 374 in February, 336 in March, 701 in April, 1,773 in May, 5,951 in June, 10,684 in July, 10,496 in August, and 15,866 in September. Reported deaths included 10 in January, three in February, seven in April, three in May, 19 in June, 41 in July, 39 in August, and 76 in September.
