Dengue claims 4 more lives, 845 hospitalised

Four more people have died from dengue fever in the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of fatalities this year to 192. During the same period, 845 new patients were admitted to hospitals.

The figures were confirmed in a bulletin issued on Sunday, September 28, by the Health Emergency Operation Centre and Control Room of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

According to the DGHS, among the newly hospitalised patients in the past 24 hours, 166 were admitted in Barishal Division, 91 in Chattogram Division, 164 in Dhaka Division (outside the city corporations), 97 in Dhaka North City, 112 in Dhaka South City, 101 in Khulna Division, 37 in Mymensingh Division, 54 in Rajshahi Division, 17 in Rangpur Division, and 6 in Sylhet Division.

Since the beginning of this year, a total of 46,051 patients have been admitted to hospitals with dengue.

For context, in 2024 (January to December) a total of 101,214 people were infected with dengue, of whom 575 died. In comparison, 321,179 cases and 1,705 deaths were recorded in 2023.
