Dengue claims 5 more lives, 953 hospitalised

Five people have died and 953 others have been hospitalized due to dengue fever in the last 24 hours. With this, the death toll from dengue this year has increased to 229.

This information was given in a press release sent by the Health Emergency Operation Center and Control Room of the Directorate General of Health Services on Tuesday (October 14).

The Directorate General of Health Services said that in the last 24 hours, 953 people have been admitted to various hospitals in the country including Dhaka due to dengue. Of these, 141 people have been admitted in Barisal division, 107 in Chittagong division, 197 in Dhaka division, 147 in Dhaka North City, 122 in Dhaka South City, 93 in Khulna division, 46 in Mymensingh division, 69 in Rajshahi division, 23 in Rangpur division and 8 in Sylhet division.

A total of 54,559 patients have been admitted to hospitals since January this year.

Meanwhile, 854 dengue patients have been discharged from hospitals across the country in the past 12 hours, bringing the total number of people discharged this year to 51,783.
