Dengue claims one more life, 358 hospitalised in 24hrs
Another dengue-related death was reported in the 24 hours leading up to Thursday morning, increasing the total number of fatalities from the mosquito-borne disease in Bangladesh to 45 this year.
During this period, 358 more patients were hospitalized with viral fever, bringing the total number of infected cases to 11,456 this year, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
According to the DGHS, new cases were reported as follows: 150 Barishal Division (Out of CC), 32 in Chattogram Division (Out of CC), 14 in Khulna Division (Out of CC), five in Mymensingh Division (Out of CC), 29 in Rajshahi Division (Out of CC), three in Rangpur Division (Out of CC), two in Sylhet Division (Out of CC), 45 Dhaka Division (Out of CC), 39 in Dhaka North City Corporation and 39 in Dhaka South City Corporation.
Last year, dengue claimed the lives of 575 people.
In 2023, dengue claimed the lives of 1,705 people, marking it as the deadliest year on record.
The DGHS reported a total of 321,179 dengue cases and 318,749 recoveries in the same year.
