Dengue claims record 10 lives in a day

Dengue claimed 10 more lives across the country in the past 24 hours — the highest single-day toll this year — while 1,069 new patients were admitted to hospitals.

With the latest deaths, the total dengue fatalities this year have reached 302, and total cases have risen to 74,992, according to a press release issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) on Wednesday (November 5).

Of the new patients, 241 were reported in Dhaka North City, 175 in Dhaka South, 208 in other districts under Dhaka Division, 151 in Barishal, 125 in Chattogram, 75 in Mymensingh, 59 in Khulna, 45 in Rajshahi, 19 in Rangpur, and 3 in Sylhet.

Meanwhile, 1,077 patients recovered and were discharged from hospitals during the same period, bringing the total number of recoveries this year to 70,529.
