Dense fog blankets Nilphamari, hinting at early winter

Dense fog blanketed parts of the country's northern district Nilphamari early Wednesday (September 16), giving residents an early taste of winter after several days of hot weather.

The fog was particularly thick around 6am, forcing vehicles to use headlights on roads across the district.

Visibility improved gradually as sunlight emerged and the fog lifted later in the morning.

Residents said such dense fog is usually more common toward the end of September, making its appearance in mid-September unusual. Although daytime weather remains warm, many locals said they have begun feeling a slight chill late at night and after midnight.

Lokman Hakim, acting officer at the Saidpur Airport weather office, said morning temperatures had ranged between 24°C and 26°C in recent days. The minimum temperature recorded at 6am on Wednesday was 26°C, with temperatures expected to gradually decline.

The sudden shift in the early-morning weather has added a distinctly wintry feel to Nilphamari’s landscape, with dew-covered grass and dense fog signalling a possible seasonal change.
