Dentist, beaten up while trying to save son, passes away
Dentist Korban Ali, who was injured while trying to save his son from the members of a teen gang in Chattogram, has passed away.
He breathed his last around 5:30am on Wednesday (April 10) while undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Chattogram. Ali Reza, son of the deceased, confirmed the matter.
According to the sources, Ali Reza Rana, son of Korban Ali, witnessed a group of young gang members assaulting a pedestrian in the West Feroze Shah Colony area on the afternoon of April 5. When the victim sought assistance, Reza promptly dialled 999, leading to police intervention and the subsequent arrest of some of the assailants.
Later, other members of the teen gang came in front of Reza's house and threatened to take revenge. Later that day, some teenage gang members attacked Reza when he went to buy iftar at the shop next to the house. At that time, when Korban Ali stepped in to protect Reza, he too was attacked. This resulted in Korban Ali sustaining serious head injuries. He was promptly admitted to Chittagong Medical College Hospital for treatment. If his condition deteriorates there, arrangements have been made for him to be transferred to the ICU of another private hospital.
In this incident, a case was filed in Akbar Shah police station, naming 12 people and unknown others. Police have already arrested three people.
Mostafizur Rahman, OC of Akbar Shah police station, said, "The attackers were identified as supporters of Golam Rasul Nishan, the Vice President of Chittagong University's branch of Chhatra League. A case has been filed in this incident.
