Deputy Speaker of the National Parliament and MP for Netrokona-1, Barrister Kayser Kamal, expressed anger after seeing a quote of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman displayed on a citizen charter at the sub-registry office in Kolmakanda upazila, Netrokona.

The incident occurred on Thursday afternoon, May 14, during an impromptu visit to the sub-registry office. He asked the sub-registrar for an explanation, who expressed regret and said he would remove the writing.

Witnesses said the Deputy Speaker was passing through the Kolmakanda Sadar area when he suddenly decided to visit the sub-registry office. He spoke to several people waiting for services and inquired about the office's activities. A journalist then brought the Bangabandhu quote on the citizen charter to his attention.

The citizen charter read: "Government employees must blend with the people. They are the people's servants, brothers. They are the people's fathers, sons, children. They must work with this attitude."

In a video circulating on social media, the journalist suggested to the Deputy Speaker that the quote was from a long time ago and that it would be better if it were not there. The Deputy Speaker then questioned the sub-registrar, who admitted he had not seen it and promised to change it.

"Now a journalist's eye caught it," the Deputy Speaker said. "If you keep it in your own pocket, how would anyone see it?"

In another video, the Deputy Speaker is seen saying, "I came without informing anyone. Those who are ignoring these matters should face appropriate action. Legal action should also be taken in this regard."

The sub-registrar later apologised, saying the matter had occurred by mistake and that he had failed to notice it as he was working with additional responsibilities.

"I will remove it, please forgive me, sir," he said.
