To reduce system loss and increase the quality of customer service, the Dhaka Electric Supply Company Limited (DESCO) has sought information from the people about illegal electricity connections.

“We are always trying to improve the quality of customer service. We are working to further reduce system losses. If anyone sees or knows anything about illegal electricity connection, please inform us, if needed, confidentially,” said DESCO Managing Director Md Kawsar Ameer Ali while addressing as the chief guest at a views-exchange meeting between different stakeholders and the clients at a community centre at Mirpur in the capital on Wednesday (February 28) morning.

“We are trying to get out of manual metre reading within the next year. Improving the quality of service is our only goal,” he added.

He answered various questions from the customers at the meeting.

DESCO's Executive Director (Engineering) Jagdish Chandra Mondal and Chief Engineer Md Rashidur Rahman also spoke at the meeting presided over by DESCO Executive Director (Operations) Zakir Hossain.

Meanwhile, many of the customers gave various suggestions to improve the quality of DESCO’s services.

Md Badiur Rahman, former NBR chairman and also a client of DESCO, pointed out frequent problems with the pre-paid metre’s network and drew the attention of the authorities to solve the problem.

Md Kamruzzaman, a customer from Shah Ali Zone in Mirpur, said it is important to make the pre-paid metre's money consumption systems easily visible to the consumers.

Md Shamim, another customer from Eastern Housing in Mirpur, expressed his satisfaction with the service of DESCO and said that coordination between the officials and the customers is necessary to prepare the electricity bill.

In the meeting, DESCO informed that the organisation is constantly bringing smart technology to implement the Smart Bangladesh vision. Besides, customers were also informed that any service provided by DESCO will now be available by scanning a QR code.
