Destiny's Rafiqul Amin launches new political party
A new political party, Bangladesh A-am Janata Party (BAJP), has debuted under the leadership of Destiny Group Managing Director Rafiqul Amin.
Party convener Mohammad Rafiqul Amin read out the party's manifesto at a press conference at a five-star hotel in Banani on Thursday (April 17).
A 297-member convening committee was announced at the event, with Fatima Tasneem taking on the role of member secretary for the new party.
At the start of the manifesto reading, Rafiqul Amin stated that even after 54 years of independence, the people of Bangladesh continue to face deprivation and discrimination. As a result, the nation has been compelled to unite in the fight against tyranny.
He further expressed the party's key aims, stating, "The Bangladesh A-Aam Janata Party aims to play a leading role in the struggle to secure fundamental rights and establish political freedoms for the people."
"Inspired by the spirit of patriotism, the party is committed to implementing a range of timely initiatives. These include establishing good governance, creating employment opportunities, pursuing a balanced foreign policy, building a non-communal society, promoting digitalization in government offices and courts, and discouraging political influence in educational institutions and public offices," he added.
In her welcome speech, the party's member secretary, Fatima Tasneem, stated, "Without political awareness, there is a risk of autocratic rule returning to the country. We have already removed the Awami Autocracy Party once, and we will not allow anyone to become an autocrat in the future."
Amomng others, citizens from various professions including political, social and cultural circles were present at the event.
