Dhaka Burn Institute goes digital with new E-Ticketing system

The National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery has introduced an electronic ticketing system for its outpatient department, aiming to reduce waiting times and modernize patient services through digital registration.

The new e-ticketing system was formally inaugurated on Saturday (August 1) by Health and Family Welfare Minister Sardar Md. Sakhawat Husain.

Prime Minister's Health Adviser Dr. Ziauddin Haider also attended the launch before touring the facility and reviewing the newly introduced service.

Hospital officials said the digital platform is designed to eliminate the long queues that patients previously faced to obtain outpatient tickets, often requiring them to arrive at the hospital before dawn.

Under the new system, patients are required to complete the registration process only once. Their personal information will then be securely stored in the hospital's digital database, allowing them to access future services without repeatedly submitting the same details.

The platform will also maintain patients' treatment histories, previous hospital visits and other relevant medical records, enabling physicians to review clinical information more efficiently and improve the continuity of care.

The initiative was implemented under the leadership of Professor Dr. Mohammad Nasir Uddin, Director of the National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery, and became operational on Saturday.

Hospital authorities said the system is expected to save patients time and reduce administrative burdens while making public healthcare services more transparent, efficient and technology-driven.

They added that the digital platform represents another step toward improving patient experience and strengthening Bangladesh's ongoing efforts to modernize government healthcare services.
