Dhaka Central Jail's chief prison guard Golam Mostafa killed in road crash

The chief prison guard of Dhaka Central Jail, Golam Mostafa has died after being injured in a road accident in Keraniganj.

He died while undergoing treatment at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) on Thursday night (May 21).

According to officials, Mostafa, 55, was injured on Wednesday when he was hit by a speeding vehicle while crossing a road in Keraniganj. He was immediately rushed to the Emergency Department and later admitted to the One-Stop Emergency Care (OSEC) unit of DMCH, where he succumbed to his injuries during treatment.

The deceased was a resident of Bondonhola village under Pirganj upazila in Thakurgaon district and the son of Md. Kalam Uddin. He was serving as the chief prison guard at Keraniganj Central Jail.

A colleague, prison guard Md. Arman, said Mostafa was critically injured after being struck by a fast-moving vehicle while crossing the road around midday on Wednesday, after which he was taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital for emergency treatment.

Inspector Md. Faruk, in charge of the DMCH police camp, confirmed the death on Friday morning, citing doctors. He said the body has been kept in the hospital morgue and the concerned police station has been informed.
