Dhaka metro rail earns Tk18.28 crore till June 2023

Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader said that the Dhaka metro rail has earned over Tk18.28 crore in revenue until June 2023 since the launch of Metrorail in 2022.

He said that according to the audit firm's final accounts for the fiscal year 2022-23, the total income till June last year was Tk18 crore 28 lakh 6 thousand 514.

He said this in response to a question of M Abdul Latif during the JS session on Monday.

Obaidul Quader said that the Uttara North to Agargaon section of the metro rail and the section from Agargaon to Motijheel was inaugurated by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on December 28, 2022 and on November 4, 2023 respectively.

"Now every day except Friday, the metro rail is being operated from 7:10 am to 8:40 pm from Uttara North to Motijheel as per the commercial schedule."

Obaidul Quader said that following the instructions of the Prime Minister, the construction work to the 1.16 km extended MRT Line-6 from Motijheel to Kamalapur is progressing in full swing.

So far the overall progress of the work is 25 percent and hopefully this part would be launched in June next year, he added.
