Dinajpur to be made city corporation if elected: Jamaat Ameer
Jamaat-e-Islami's ameer and chief of the 10-party alliance, Dr Shafiqur Rahman, has pledged to turn Dinajpur town into a city corporation if the alliance is voted into power and forms the government.
He made the commitment while addressing an election rally as the chief guest at Dinajpur Gor-e-Shahid Maidan on Friday afternoon, January 23.
The Jamaat ameer said that if they form the government, one medical college will be established in every district of the country.
He noted that while Dinajpur has a medical college, Thakurgaon and Panchagarh do not, adding that medical colleges would produce skilled doctors and expand healthcare services.
He stated that the government must take responsibility for those who have given to society until the age of 65, ensuring they receive free medical care in their later years.
The Jamaat ameer said, "We want to build a Bangladesh where there will be no conflict between religions. A country where no one will dream of building a 'Begumpara' [a high-end residential area] on foreign soil with stolen money."
