Dipu Moni's husband critical, daughter files parole application
Tani Deepavali Nawaz, daughter of former education minister Dr Dipu Moni, has applied for a seven-day parole for her mother to allow her to care for her critically ill husband, Tawfiq Nawaz.
The application was submitted to the Munshiganj Deputy Commissioner on Wednesday, May 27.
The application states that Tawfiq Nawaz has been suffering from cancer, liver complications and post-stroke issues for a long time. He is currently undergoing treatment in the CCU of a private hospital in the capital, and his condition is critical.
Tani Deepavali Nawaz said her mother's presence is essential to oversee her father's treatment and be by his side. A seven-day parole has been requested on humanitarian grounds.
Munshiganj Additional Commissioner and Executive Magistrate Md Abu Bakar Siddique said the application has been received and is being processed.
Lawyer Gazi Faisal Islam said Dipu Moni is currently in Munshiganj District Jail. She has been incarcerated for approximately 21 months after being arrested in multiple cases.
The application also noted that Dipu Moni's husband's condition has deteriorated further in recent days. Her presence beside her family during this critical time is essential on humanitarian grounds.
