Direct Hajj flights from Sylhet begin May 14
Biman Bangladesh Airlines will begin operating direct Hajj flights from Sylhet’s Osmani International Airport to Madinah on May 14, aiming to ease the travel experience for pilgrims.
A total of five direct flights will carry 2,095 pilgrims from Sylhet. The first flight will go directly to Madinah, while the remaining four—scheduled for May 23, 25, 26, and 29—will operate on the Sylhet–Jeddah route, said Shahnewaz Majumder, Biman’s Sylhet station manager.
Immigration procedures for these passengers will be completed upon arrival in Saudi Arabia.
Mohammed Ziaur Rahman Khan Rezwan, president of the Sylhet Zone of the Association of Travel Agents of Bangladesh (ATAB), said 2,700 pilgrims from Sylhet are set to perform Hajj this year. Of them, 2,095 will fly directly from Sylhet, while the rest will depart from Dhaka.
