Dismembered body recovered in Cox's Bazar

Police have recovered the dismembered body of an unidentified person in a bag in Baharchhara Union of Teknaf Upazila of Cox's Bazar. The body was found under a culvert in the Hochhani Canal adjacent to Marine Drive in the South Kachchhpia area on Thursday afternoon (April 9).

It is learnt that, locals saw several suspicious bags lying under the culvert around 1pm. Police went to the spot and opened the bags and recovered the dismembered body of an unidentified person. Various body parts were found in a total of six bags.

Police Inspector Durjoy Biswas of the Baharchhara Investigation Center said that the body is that of a man. The dismembered parts have been recovered and sent for autopsy. The identity of the deceased has not been identified yet and no one has been arrested.

He said that the miscreants had deliberately dismembered the body and dumped it in different places to make it difficult to identify the person.

Teknaf Model Police Station OC Saiful Islam said that work is underway to identify the deceased and unravel the mystery of the incident. Further legal action will be taken after receiving the autopsy report.
