Dismissed BDR members stage sit-in at Shaheed Minar
Dismissed BDR members are holding a sit-in at the central Shaheed Minar. Dismissed BDR members and their family members have been protesting at Shaheed Minar since Tuesday (February 11) morning demanding 6-point demands including reinstatement in service and release of prisoners.
This program has been organized by the BDR Kalyan Parishad. The organization's president, Faizul Alam, said that innocent prisoners in farcical cases in the Pilkhana massacre must be released. Those who have been unfairly dismissed must be immediately implemented with all kinds of government compensation. For this, we will continuously stand at Shaheed Minar until February 11, 12 and 13. He also warned of announcing a stricter program if there is no good news in the meantime.
The demands of the dismissed BDR members are; 18 special courts and summary courts of the commanders should be formed inside and outside Peelkhana to reinstate the dismissed BDR members. At the same time, their compensation and state benefits should be ensured. The BDR members who have already been acquitted in murder cases and whose sentences have ended should be released immediately. In addition, the case of intentional explosives should be canceled. In order for the formed commission to work independently and impartially, the words other than those mentioned in the notification and clause (e) of the terms of reference 2 should be deleted. At the same time, the innocent BDR members who were wrongly convicted should be released subject to an independent investigation report. The exact cause of the Pilkhana massacre should be revealed, the main conspirators and murderers should be identified and brought to exemplary punishment. The murderers of a total of 74 people, including 57 army officers and 10 BDR members, who were martyred in Pilkhana, must be brought to justice. At the same time, the exact cause of death of all BDR members who died in prison must be revealed. If there was an unnatural death, those responsible must be brought to justice. The name of BDR, which has a glorious history of independence and sovereignty, must be brought back. A national day must be declared in memory of all the martyrs in the Pilkhana massacre. At the same time, the safety of the families of the martyrs must be ensured.
