Disputed police officer Sanjida temporarily suspended
The Home Ministry has issued a temporary suspension for Sanjida Afrin, the former additional deputy commissioner of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP).
In a notification issued by the Home Ministry on Sunday (December 29) stated that Sanjida Afrin has been suspended under the Government Service Rules Act. However, during her suspension, she will be assigned to the Barishal Range and will receive a food allowance as per the rules.
According to the Detective Branch (DB) sources, Sanjida Afrin instructed Jahangir Arif, an Inspector of DB, to prepare the final report clearing former Law Minister Anisul Haque, former Private Industry and Investment Advisor to ousted Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina Salman F Rahman, and former Director General of NTMC Major General (retd) Ziaul Ahsan in two murder cases related to the student-public uprising.
Consequently, the authorities found both individuals guilty and temporarily suspended Sanjida after Jahangir's suspension.
Sanjida came into the spotlight on the night of September 9 last year, when two leaders of the Chhatra League and a Dhaka University leader were detained and beaten at Shahbagh Police Station.
She is currently serving with the Armed Police Battalion (APBN).
