District Jamaat Ameer held with Tk 50 lakh hospitalised

Thakurgaon district Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Belal Uddin has been detained at Syedpur Airport in Nilphamari with nearly Tk 50 lakh. He was taken into custody by law enforcement agencies around 11:00 am on Wednesday, February 11, after arriving in Syedpur by air.

District Police Superintendent Sheikh Zahidul Islam confirmed the matter and said Belal Uddin was detained with approximately Tk 50 lakh. He fell ill during primary interrogation. He was later sent to Syedpur for medical treatment.

He was admitted to Syedpur 100-Bed Hospital via ambulance around 1:00 pm. Hospital sources said he is currently under doctors' observation.

Police have not yet disclosed details regarding the source of the recovered money or its intended purpose. Authorities said the matter is under investigation.
