Diversification needed to secure energy sector: State Minister
State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Anindya Islam Amit has emphasised the need to diversify production to ensure security and sustainability in the energy sector.
He made the remarks while speaking as the chief guest at the inauguration of a 10-day BSCIC Entrepreneurs' Fair at Jashore Town Hall ground on Friday afternoon, June 19.
The state minister said that to keep the energy sector safe and stable, reliance on a single source must be reduced and electricity generation must move towards multiple sources. To this end, the government is focusing on renewable energy, particularly solar power.
Given the global energy crisis, solar power has emerged as a crucial alternative. The government has already provided budget benefits and duty exemptions for solar panel installation and is encouraging the private sector to come forward in this sector.
Anindya Islam Amit told entrepreneurs that if multiple entrepreneurs jointly initiate solar power generation, the government will provide necessary support.
Local administration and political leaders were also present at the event. The fair features 60 stalls showcasing various products from local entrepreneurs, including handicrafts, boutique items, food products and home furnishings.
The fair will remain open to visitors daily from morning to night for the next 10 days.
